Every year, organizations host kids activities for free to engage young audiences and offering a chance to educate people on their organization and services. This year, NIPSCO has sponsored the STEAM Park to include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities that you can follow at home. Some activities are available at any time, and some will be happening live! Check out the list below from this year’s participating organizations.

Color piggy banks!

Experience modern band music through a full-equipped staging of instruments (guitar, keyboard, percussion.)

Get your hands on architecture, creating structures from Lincoln logs and Legos based off of historic buildings!

Test automobile designs with our table-top wind-tunnel!

Create your own work of art with bubble painting, a unique technique where you experiment with solutions, textures, and bubble blowing!

Try your hands at spin art, mixing colors and physics into art!

Experience what it’s like to be a ballet student at Fort Wayne Ballet! Young ones (3 years) up to 9 years old can take a creative dance class with Ms. Maddie from 2 – 3 PM

Want to see sounds? Learn how your voice looks on a vocal spectrogram, and how changing pitch and volume changes the spectrogram.

Build a compass like ones used to navigate during the day when sailing schooner’s traveled the great lakes with passenger and cargo (much like The Christmas Schooner!).
Enjoy a variety of preschool educational activities with PNC Grow Up Great®, including Sesame podcasts and videos!

Explore dance and wellness for all ages and abilities!

Visit Fort Wayne Museum of Art from 10am – 6pm for Free Family Tours!

The Friends of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will help you build your own instrument kit and teach you about the science behind how they work!

Learn about science with Homestead!

Learn about how Fort Wayne came to be and try your hand at coloring history! Coloring pages will be available on the History Center’s Facebook page, as well as on-site at the History Center. Visit The History Center at Arts Campus Fort Wayne from 9am to 5pm.

Create structures with toothpicks to represent how connected we are & what complex structures, like organizations and government, can become.

Learn about science through hands-on art activities!

See the film process from start-to-finish through a scene from a zombie film. Science/Biology will be incorporated in the explanation of the FX/Make-up choices, as well as the Physics of Action/Reaction where it pertains to filming a fight sequence and camera angles. At the end of the demonstrative workshop, create your own zombie short!

Enjoy the instrument petting zoo, where you can learn about different instruments!
