Arts United announced today the projects selected for the 2024 cycle of Amplify Art, a crowdfunding campaign platform designed to support arts and culture projects in Northeast Indiana. Sponsored by PNC Bank, Amplify Art relies on support from the community through social media advocacy and small contributions from a large number of donors.

The five projects selected for the Fall 2024 cycle are:

Paint the Crosswalks

Auburn Main Street

Goal: $4,000

The Paint the Crosswalks project is focused on using local artists to paint the crosswalks to positively impact the Downtown Auburn community. This community art project will enhance aesthetics, foster engagement and belonging, promote local culture and economy, and create inviting, vibrant public spaces that will enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike.

Exploring the Arts at Camp Red Cedar

Camp Red Cedar

Goal: $4,000

Camp Red Cedar provides summer camp and recreational therapy experiences to children and adults of all abilities. For Summer 2025, Camp Red Cedar aims to inspire creativity by bringing arts and culture programming to campers and other clients, who do not have the opportunity to participate in mainstream dance, music, creative movement, and other arts and culture programming.

Fort Wayne Youth Market Fund

Healing Hands Night Market

Goal: $4,000

Healing Hands Night Market, a local arts and wares market, has started accepting youth vendors free of charge. Through the Fort Wayne Youth Market Fund, Healing Hands Night Market will help the youth in the community to pursue local arts of all kinds and educate them as young entrepreneurs. The goal is to make vending accessible for underserved kids who may otherwise be unable to participate in the market due to limited resources needed for vending or doing their craft.

Free Flowers for North Side

Jon Mendelson

Goal: $4,000

Artist Jon Mendelson will bring a vibrant peony bouquet mural to Layla’s Thrift Store, where it will greet visitors as they enter the historic Northside Neighborhood. This project will celebrate and enhance the beauty of the community, creating a lasting symbol of elegance and charm.

Bleeding Ears – Feature Narrative Film Project

Shanel Turner, Relatively Conscious

Goal: $4,000

This Fort Wayne filmmaking project tells the story of a young Black woman from the city, in a coming-of-age tale that will hit close to home for so many women. The themes are loss, sacrifice, and courage. Shanel Turner of Relatively Conscious is teaming up with some of Fort Wayne’s most talented filmmakers and artists on this project to bring it to life. Lyndy Bazile of AfroPlump and Studio Vwazen will use her animation talent in this film, Sam Doughty will be the lead cinematographer, and Ruth Yaro will be managing the set and acting as the producer.

The fundraising campaign will begin Monday, October 14, and conclude Friday, October 25. Community members can support a project by donating online and through social media advocacy. PNC Bank will match every gift made through the campaign dollar for dollar up to $2,000 per project. The crowdfunding campaign will be through Arts United’s platform, Amplify Art, a social media-based program that mobilizes community support and awareness of diverse creative projects happening in Northeast Indiana.
