Arts United announced the recipients of the 2024 Regional Arts Council Capacity Grants. The Regional Arts Council is a collaborative council created by Arts United to serve members by connecting, developing, and advocating for arts and culture organizations in Northeast Indiana. The Capacity Grant Program provides funding to members of the Regional Arts Council for one or more of the following: improving artistic or educational quality, developing, growing and/or reaching new audiences, building or expanding a fundraising program or donor base, engaging, training, or retaining staff and/or volunteers, or taking action steps toward IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, or access).
This year, Arts United has invested $174,756 in 22 nonprofit organizations located in Northeast Indiana through Capacity Grants. The recipient organizations for the fiscal year 2024 are:
- ARCH – $9,850 to create new, historic neighborhood walking tours
- Artlink – $7,500 to develop and expand key fundraising programs
- Audiences Unlimited – $5,000 for an organizational strategic transition project
- Creative Women of the World – $7,500 to launch a gift membership program
- Embassy Theatre – $5,000 to continue to embed IDEA work into the organization
- FAME – $10,000 to expand the Teachers’ Closet and increase access for educators
- Fire & Light Productions – $6,350 to support set construction training
- Fort Wayne Ballet – $10,000 to support additional marketing efforts for “Fort Wayne Ballet: On the Road”
- Fort Wayne Children’s Choir – $10,000 to establish a staff position focused on constituent retention
- Fort Wayne Civic Theatre – $10,000 for professional development and expansion of Theatre Arts classes
- Fort Wayne Dance Collective – $9,000 to support and enhance marketing strategies
- Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department – $8,628 for key personnel from Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory to attend the American Public Gardens Association conference
- Fort Wayne Philharmonic – $10,000 to extend the reach of the Family Concert Series
- Fort Wayne Trails – $5,000 for app maintenance and staff to attend International Trails Summit
- Fort Wayne Youtheatre – $8,000 to continue development of partnership with Allen County Public Library
- Heartland Sings – $10,000 to provide free admission to “The Peacemakers”
- The History Center – $7,078 to launch an enhanced marketing regimen to increase community support
- Honeywell Foundation – $7,250 to expand the reach of Visual Thinking Strategies programming
- PBS Fort Wayne – $7,500 to establish a new series focused on original music by Northeast Indiana artists
- Purdue Fort Wayne – $3,600 for partnership with music education students and Levan Scott Academy
- Science Central – $10,000 to establish a social media internship position to support marketing efforts
- Three Rivers Music Theatre – $7,500 to expand the reach of Pre-Professional Musical Theatre program
Since the Regional Arts Council Capacity Grant Program’s inception in 2022, Arts United has supported 32 organizations with grants totaling $462,789 to support capacity-building initiatives. For more information about the Regional Arts Council or Capacity Grants, visit artsunited.org.
