Rigging: How to Know When It Is Right

Instructor: Tyler Delong, Managing Partner of Delong Rigging Solutions

About the Instructor: Tyler spent the majority of his early career working as a touring technician, primarily as a tour rigger/automation tech. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles on various rigging topics and can be found presenting sessions and workshops at over a dozen conferences a year. His work has taken him all over North America, South America, and Asia. 

Lighting Design, Theory, and Technology

Instructor: Ryan Davies, Lighting Designer

About the Instructor: Ryan Davies was born in Wales, immigrated to Canada and then the USA. She arrived in Indiana in 2003 to earn an MFA in Lighting Design at Indiana University Bloomington. She served as Lighting Supervisor at the Tony Award-winning Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, followed by guest and fixed-term lecturer positions at IU and Michigan State, respectively. After a sabbatical, Ryan pivoted to architectural lighting design, working as a manufacturer’s representative. Major architectural projects include The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, the Indiana Convention Center, the Allen County Convention Center, and the Arts United Center. Educational projects span multiple school districts, including Indianapolis, Carmel Clay, and Fort Wayne. Ryan has three children and is passionate about creating accessible and engaging immersive environments.

Instructor: Raymond Kent, Partner Senior Principal, and Director of Technology and Innovation of Studio B1

About the Instructor: Ray Kent is a Partner, Senior Principal, and Director of Technology and Innovation at Studio B1, a theater design and performance venue consulting firm with offices in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky and Cleveland, Ohio. A third-generation theater practitioner, Ray brings 39 years of experience in the field, 25 of them in consulting, and has designed over 400 performance venues across his career, including Arts United Center, where he served as Senior Theater Planner.
