Fort Wayne, IN – Arts United and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership team up to ask the community to support through a crowdfunding campaign to benefit the Make It Your Own Mural Fest, a regional mural festival that will bring 11 new murals to 11 counties of Northeast Indiana in September 2020.

The month long campaign will begin Thursday, June 11 with the goal of raising $3,000 for a mural in each county mural by Saturday, July 11. Community members can choose to support the installation of a mural in their own county and/or overall festival by donating online and through social media advocacy. 3Rivers Federal Credit Union will match every gift made through the campaign dollar for dollar up to $1,500 per county.

The crowdfunding campaign will be through Arts United’s platform, Amplify Art!, a social media-based program that mobilizes community support and awareness of diverse creative projects happening in Northeast Indiana. Sponsored by 3Rivers Federal Credit Union, the June 11- July 11 cycle of Amplify Art! will focus exclusively on raising funds for the Make It Your Own Mural Fest.

The Make It Your Own Mural Fest is a regional mural festival that will take place over 11 days, September 8 – 18, 2020. Artists will create 11 high-quality murals—one in each of the 11 counties of Northeast Indiana. Participating counties include: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley. The murals will be unveiled on the same day, with celebrations and events taking place all over the region throughout the duration of the festival to recognize the artists and the communities. Each county of Northeast Indiana will participate, and specific mural locations have been determined through a county-led selection committee process with a combination of regional and local input.

“Using a crowdfunding platform like Amplify Art! to mobilize community support, awareness, and visibility for the inaugural Make It Your Own Mural Fest seemed like a natural fit,” said Susan Mendenhall, President of Arts United. “This project not only reflects the individuality of each Northeast Indiana county, but also enhances the region’s vivid personality as whole.”

Kate Virag, Vice President of Marketing & Strategic Communications for the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, believes that the crowdfunding campaign has a lot of potential to bring dollars and awareness to Make It Your Own Mural Fest. “Partnering with Arts United for this special edition of Amplify Art! provides a great opportunity to increase excitement around the Make It Your Own Mural Fest. The crowdsourcing efforts through Amplify Art! will not only help raise money to support eleven unique mural projects, but also drive community buy-in of the Make It Your Own brand,” said Virag.
