Arts United announced today the projects selected for the 2021 Fall Cycle of Amplify Art, a crowdfunding campaign platform designed to support arts and culture projects in Northeast Indiana. Sponsored by PNC Bank, Amplify Art relies on support from the community through social media advocacy and small contributions from a large number of donors. The projects are: 

Downtown Churubusco Kinetic Wind Sculptures

Main Street Churubusco, Inc.
Goal: $3,000

Main Street Churubusco is spearheading a project to purchase and install Lyman Whitaker kinetic wind sculptures in downtown Churubusco. This project will enhance the downtown’s visual assets and create an inviting, inclusive atmosphere as well as create a sense of motion. This project fits within several goals outlined within the Town’s strategic plan with the primary goal being, “Encourage aesthetically appealing elements in the development of public ways to improve the visual appeal of the community.”

Script to Screen in Six

Summit City Cinephiles
Goal: $5,000

Summit City Cinephiles will help three local aspiring filmmakers see their dreams become reality in 6 months, giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills, and access to local Industry professionals that they otherwise may not be able to afford. The Grand Prize winner will receive a full production experience, with professional assistance from auditions through final edits. Second and third places will receive small cash stipends and professional mentorship to self-produce their scripts, culminating in a mini-film festival featuring all three during Summer 2022.

Temporary Outdoor Art Exhibit at Gene Stratton-Porter Historic Site

Rebecca Stockert
Goal: $3,000

A temporary outdoor art exhibit featuring narrative illustrations by artist Rebecca Stockert and inspired by the poetry and prose of Gene Stratton-Porter. Six illustrations will be reproduced on an outdoor material and placed around the grounds at the Gene Stratton-Porter Historic Site in Rome City, IN, also known as Wildflower Woods. Visitors will experience the magic of Stratton-Porter’s writing and Stockert’s illustrations as they wander through the woods that was once Stratton-Porter’s home.

Theatre Arts Day 2022

Fort Wayne Civic Theatre
Goal: $5,000

Theatre Arts Day will give all individuals ages 14+ the opportunity to dive in behind-the-scenes with a variety of workshops on topics ranging from technical theatre to audition tips. They will learn that theatre is a source of self-discovery, expression, creativity, and fun!   With outreach to our growing minority communities, we hope to expand the volunteer base not only for Civic, but for all area theatre groups.

UnSung: Celebrating the Voices of Women in Recovery

Purdue University Fort Wayne School of Music
Goal: $5,000

UnSung is an original text and music collaboration that celebrates the voices and journeys of women in recovery from Substance Use Disorders through the use of spoken-word and therapeutic music. Audiences will access this recorded work via QR codes displayed on signage throughout the Fort Wayne community.  The purpose of this project is to offer an opportunity for acceptance of women who are mothers, daughters, sisters, colleagues and friends who also experience Substance Use Disorders, to offer hope to the struggling and to reduce the impact of stigma on women seeking treatment.

The campaign will begin Monday, October 4 and conclude Friday, October 29. Community members can support a project by donating online at artsunited.org/ways-to-give/amplify and through social media advocacy. PNC Bank will match every gift made through the campaign dollar for dollar up to $1,000 per project. The crowdfunding campaign will be through Arts United’s platform, Amplify Art, a social media-based program that mobilizes community support and awareness of diverse creative projects happening in Northeast Indiana.
