Arts Campus Master Planning

Investing in quality of life is about giving the people of northeast Indiana the accessible spaces and compelling activities they crave, so they can meet each other, express themselves, explore new ideas and interests, learn about diverse cultures, be entertained, be educated and be inspired.

These activities happen organically on the downtown Arts Campus.

This year, Arts United Board of Directors, under the leadership of Board Chair Doug Wood and Master Planning Committee Chair Madelane Elston, has laid plans to advance the downtown Arts Campus as a boldly accessible, connected and welcoming regional destination that provides a margin of excellence for local nonprofit arts organizations, their patrons and the community.

Investing in the downtown Arts Campus begins at its heart: the Arts United Center. Designed by world-renowned architect Louis Kahn. This existing asset in downtown Fort Wayne is an architecturally important landmark in the Midwest; it is the only building by Kahn in the Midwest the only theatre he ever designed.

Together, we will serve more people with excellent and accessible programming.

Objective: Transform the Arts Campus into a boldly accessible, connected and welcoming regional destination.

Project components:

  1. Arts United Center renovation, preservation and expansion
  2. Connectivity and placemaking
  3. Branding, communications and signage
  4. Dream gathering for future phases
