The Arts United Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve this slate of directors during the annual meeting on June 15, 2017.

During Arts United’s 2015 cultural planning initiative, 2,300 diverse citizens helped us discover our community’s ambition-to become a national destination by driving forward arts, culture and quality of life. “Having solid leadership is essential to Arts United’s success as it continues to evolve as an organization to meet the community’s desire for growth and innovation, and we’re excited to do so under this board’s leadership,” said Doug Wood, Board Chair.

“Our 2016-2020 strategic plan was created in response to what the community told us they needed from us. Our board and staff are committed to implementing this plan in order to elevate the quality of life for all individuals in our community through arts and culture,” added Susan Mendenhall, President. Arts United’s core initiatives are:

1. Advocacy and Promotion-Arts United will serve as a collective voice for the creative sector to create an environment in which more people attend and support arts and culture.
2. Arts Campus Development-The Arts Campus will provide a professional edge to community-centered creative organizations and artists by offering spaces and resources in which to incubate and produce local artistic work and creative activities.
3. Capacity Building-Arts United will increase the capacity of the creative sector by investing in high-performing arts and cultural organizations and their ability to innovate, evolve and serve the community.
4. Community Development-Arts United will connect and convene the creative sector to develop a more attractive, vibrant and thriving community.
5. Health and Sustainability-Arts United will invest in its organizational capacity to sustain its mission and achieve its vision.

Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. is a non-profit united arts fund and local arts agency that serves the communities of northeast Indiana by fueling the momentum of more than 70 arts, culture and quality of life initiatives each year. Arts United’s strategic investments position arts and culture organizations to achieve higher levels of excellence and quality, to improve access to the arts for all community members and to support regional priorities for growth and development.
