In 2015, Arts United lauched a planning initiative to align the creative sector with broad community goals. The Cultural Advancement Committee, comprised of approximately 30 community leaders and chaired by Chuck Surack, president and founder of Sweetwater, developed The Platform for Cultural Advancement, aligning and connecting arts, culture, and quality of life in Greater Fort Wayne.

A key outcome of The Platform was the need for greater access to arts and cultural opportunities, including access to information about events. In response to this need, a task force was organized of marketing and communication leaders from Arts United, Visit Fort Wayne, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Downtown Improvement District, City of Fort Wayne, and several corporate marketing leaders.

The task force seeks to understand what connects people to our community, and the Quality of Life Survey was developed by the task force to help inform its work. Arts United is administering the 2019 Quality of Life Survey and will share the results of with arts organizations, government agencies, and economic development partners to cooperatively advance our region’s quality of life.
