The historic Barr Street Market, adjacent to The History Center, is the oldest public space in Fort Wayne, dating back to 1837. It operated continuously as an outdoor market in the heart of the city from the 1840s to the 1950s.
Recently reclaimed as a seasonal outdoor market by the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI), the Barr Street Market is open for business on Saturday mornings from May to September. Visit the market and you’ll find a wide variety of organic fruits and vegetables, hand-made jewelry and crafts and other local goods. Barr Street Market occasionally features live music.
